Art Basel Miami Beach

Culture Jammers in Public Space

Jani Leinonen is taking part in a panel discussion called “Culture Jammers in Public Space”, that the Lens Politica festival organizes in co-operation with the Voima newspaper on Saturday, 1st of December, 2012. The panel discusses spoof ads, the overlapping of commercial and anti-commercial cultures, occupying the urban space and different types of communication from promotion and advertising to journalism and social influence. Among the panelists in addition to Leinonen are journalist Jari Tamminen, artist Suvi Auvinen, the strategic director of the digital advertising agency Byroo and as the moderator the publishing manager of Voima, Tuomas Rantanen. Time is a luxury we don’t have

Jani Leinonen’s new works will be shown together with some pieces from Mari Keto in an exhibition called Time Is A Luxury We Don’t Have at the Showroom Helsinki gallery in Helsinki, Finland. Lens Politica presents: Food Liberation Army & Manifesto on food politics

The activist group Food Liberation Army (FLA), best known for kidnapping Ronald McDonald, will release their manifesto on food politics at theLens Politica festival and demonstrate how the modern food production chain is one of the most important factors behind climate change, diseases and economic and social inequality. The event hosted by Jani Leinonen will also reveal video material of the trial between FLA and McDonald’s and of the kidnapping of Ronald McDonald. The event will take place on Thurday, November 29 at Dubrovnik Lounge & Lobby in Helsinki, starting at 6 pm. www.lenspolitica.net

Jani Leinonen’s works are shown at gallery Himmelblau in Tampere, Finland from 20th of October until the 25th of November. The gallery is open Wednesday – Friday 11am – 5pm and Saturday – Sunday 12 pm – 4pm. www.himmelblau.fi

Memorial service

Jani Leinonen’s world-famous Death of Capitalism gravestones are now shown in Showroom Helsinki. The exhibition will be open from 5th of October until 11th of November.
